Written by teens...for teens, this timely and relevant story is sure to engage struggling readers with high-interest topics about friendship, school, and natural disasters, like a tornado.
Storybook
This 16-page story was written by a high school student as part of a class writing project. The stories were then adapted to fit a low reading level. Several factors were taken into account when the story was written: relaxed readability, simple sentence structure, selective vocabulary, and interesting plots. Simply print the storybook, double-sided on eight pieces of paper, fold, and you're ready to read!
Improved reading ability and comprehension can lead to increased self-esteem. We hope that this story will help students not only strengthen their reading skills but boost their self-confidence as well, both in and out of the classroom.
Activity Pages
The included activity pages are designed to build skills in grammar and comprehension. Students are asked to identify parts of speech, find the main idea, uncover facts, and draw conclusions.
