The activities in this book help students understand that an inference is something not stated in the text but something you can assume based on certain details in the text and your own knowledge. Students get lots of practice paying attention to the details that will help them make an inference.

The task card format allows for specifically targeted practice and flexible usage: homework, seatwork, warmups, independent study, etc. The short, doable activities vary in degrees of difficulty and are colorful, engaging, and fun. While some activities may be challenging, the sense of accomplishment and skills gained are worth the effort.
