This book was designed to support one of the essential components of the Science of Reading: Vocabulary. After learning how to say, spell, and decode words, vocabulary explores the characteristics and meanings of words. These task cards are meant for students that do not have the vocabulary they need for their grade level. Having a good vocabulary is supported by mastering a variety of skills. The Vocabulary Series for the Science of Reading includes some of the most essential skills for expanding and improving vocabulary.
The task card format allows for specifically targeted practice and flexible usage: homework, seatwork, warmups, independent study, etc. The short, doable activities vary in degrees of difficulty and are colorful, engaging and fun.
