Following directions is an essential life-time skill. As young children we learn to follow verbal directions. As we grow, the directions we need to follow become more complex. Even as adults, following directions remains a necessary skill. Doing your job, cooking, assembling something, learning a sport or playing a game all require proficiency in this important skill.

This book contains a variety of activities that build on the skills featured in Level 1. The more challenging directions take students to the next level of following directions through practice with everyday situations that upper elementary (and older) students might encounter: following the directions on a medicine label, understanding walking and bike riding directions, performing first aid, following a recipe, and more.

Level 2 Skills:

As students complete each activity, they call upon their language, reading comprehension, writing, and art skills. They also use reasoning, logic, and visualization skills that develop critical thinking.

By improving critical thinking skills, reading comprehension, problem solving, writing skills and much more are reinforced. The colorful, engaging activities challenge students to think using a variety of methods. Mastering the skill of following directions gives students an important tool for success in school as well as in daily life.
